as usual, i’m late with one of these, but thanks for reading anyway. i hope you’re having a good day.

oh, by the way, i’m going to start putting links to my ko-fi page in my blogs from now on in the off chance anyone feels inclined to send me a little money for my writing. don’t feel obligated, of course, i’m just trying something out. here’s a bunch of buttons for you to click. thanks again.

about fishing (the water museum, 2026)

excellent fishing mechanics with a story that reels you in. i included an earlier playtest as one of my favorite games of 2025 and this expanded demo only makes me more excited.

blood dungeon (messhof, coming soon)

it has a slimy, organic feel to it that reminds me of the binding of isaac. i also like that you get pooped out of a butt every time you return to the hub area.

gossamer matrix (catmilk, to be announced)

completely nonsensical, completely compelling. i wasn’t able to kill a single enemy but i’m obsessed with the messiness.

heavydelic (heavydelic studio, early access until 2030)

very much style over substance at this point in its development but holy shit do its hand-drawn graphics look incredible. here’s hoping we don’t actually have to wait until 2030 to enjoy heavydelic in its entirety.

meaningless random numbers (nikko nikko, 2026)

an absolute assault on the senses that functions as both a brilliant send-up of the balatro-like pseudo-genre and a commentary on the anxiety and fear driving our endless need for more money.

penguin colony (origame digital, 2026)

i wasn’t as enamored with the developer’s previous game, umurangi generation, as the rest of games media, but penguin colony is shaping up to be the best way to experience lovecraft. and, i mean, come on, penguins rule.

rolla (tyrmä games, 2026)

a neat, little diversion with great presentation. fits into the same mold as games like katamari damacy and donut country.

ruin: beast city (dascumaru, q1 2027)

mixes suda51-inspired visuals with souls-like boss battles. you and your enemy share the same stamina bar, which makes for an interesting tug-of-war mechanic wherein you win by filling it but having it deplete results in an insta-death.

takeover 2 (pelikan13, september 10)

a tight, old-school beat-em-up with neat, comic book aesthetics. lots of gamepad rumble, which i also like.

truck-kun is supporting me from another world?! (strange scaffold, july 29)

strange scaffold is all killer no filler and truck-kun looks poised to be another hit. it’s fun to drive around and smash into things, what can i say.

virtue and a sledgehammer (deconstructeam/selkie harbour, 2026)

i’m actually a little worried how much i loved destroying robots who were once people (?). this game is going to destroy me.
